X-Force #1, pages 22-23

Warpath just keeps getting HUGER, doesn't he? Look at him in panel 1. He must have some sort of intravenous source of steroids or something, the guy is thick.
But it's not Warpath's roid abuse the bothers me the most about this page, nor is it the bizarre and unnecessary choice of a red-and-blue pallette instead of what's been used before, or even the bland-beyond-belief dialogue, or the misshape, misplaced tits featured prominently on both Feral and Boom Boom, or the really gay sound effects, or the extremely bizarre reflections and shadows on all the ship's chairs, or the most half-assed cityscape in recent memory. Seriously, Rob, you're drawing a Manhattan skyline and you include one row of buildings? That's just unacceptable. But no, while those things are terrible indeed, they are not the worst part of this page.
The worst part is the explosion occuring immediately after the ship's takeoff.
It was pretty clear that the timer for the self-destruct sequence was set to ten minutes. It was shown that the battle between Feral and Wildside took maybe 12 seconds. Unless Zero's appearance and disappearance took way longer than it seemed like, there's no way that nine and a half minutes elapsed between the end of the Feral/Wildside battle and the thrilling explosion on page 22. Yet, true to shitty action cinematic form, Liefeld has drawn his heroes escaping from a self-destruct sequence just seconds before it activates. It's not so much the use of this crappy trope, it's the fact that Liefeld explicitly showed us how much time was actually left until the moment of the explosion, then decided to hell with it.
